Centurion: Two of the star bowlers in the ongoing Indian Premier League, Pragyan Ojha and Praveen Kumar, feel their success in South Africa will come handy in next month's World Twenty20 as the IPL is no less competitive than the ICC event in England.
Both Ojha and Praveen have been included in India's 15-member squad for the Twenty20 World Cup and they said the IPL has given them the confidence and exposure to excel at the highest international stage.
"What the IPL has taught us is how to get into rhythm for the World Cup. We have not played too many Twenty20 matches since the last IPL, so this event is a great help for everyone," said left-arm spinner Ojha, who has taken 10 wickets out of seven matches for Deccan Chargers in the ongoing IPL.
"What I have learnt from IPL here is that varying the pace is very important, because not everytime all wickets are going to help you. It is how you vary your pace, line and length, which will mark you out. Ultimately it's about how best you utilise the conditions and get used to it," he added.
Praveen, who has taken seven wickets for Bangalore Royal Challengers in seven matches, agreed and said he was looking forward to playing the Twenty20 World Cup.
"IPL is like World Cup. Players regard it that way. They practice that way, even the atmosphere is like that. All that put together will help me personally and the team," said the 22-year-old medium-pacer in the IPL website.
